ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an example of a procedure that addresses the methods to control documents according to the requirements of both International Standardization Organization (ISO) 9001 and ISO 14001. A very large percentage of the environmental management system documents can be controlled by the system established under the ISO 9001 framework. In the event of a conflict between this procedure and either a written customer requirement, an internal company environmental requirement, a regulatory requirement, ISO 9001 requirements, or ISO 14001, the customer, company, regulatory requirement, or ISO requirement shall take precedence provided it has been approved by the appropriate authority within the company. The procedure can be written in such a way as to control the Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures and also refer to the control of other EMS documents.
