ABSTRACT

The Self-Assessment checklist breaks the International Standardization Organization (ISO) 14001 Environmental Management Standard into its basic components and asks if there is any evidence of compliance to the requirement. The checklist uses the ISO 9001 elements as the foundation and integrates the various ISO 14001 elements which have similar bearing on the subject. Most of the questions can either be applied specifically to quality concerns or to environmental issues. The Quality and Environmental Manuals include corporate policies, as well as requirements from ISO 9001:1009(E) and ISO 14001:1996(E). Both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 require a written, documented procedure which details the requirements for internal auditing. The procedure should include the scope, frequency, methodologies, responsibilities and requirements for conducting audits and reporting results. A similar schedule can also be assembled for a combined ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audit.
