ABSTRACT
The interaction of optical radiation with the tissues of the body, as described in chapter 3, can be complex. This often leads to a requirement for a very precise specification of the radiation properties in order that the significance of a given level of exposure can be ascertained. Emission characterization and exposure assessment are therefore fundamental issues of concern in laser safety.
