ABSTRACT

Due to the simplicity of the online con guration, UV-Vis spectrophotometry is the most widely used detection technique in capillary electrophoresis (CE). However, the sensitivity of the CE-UV coupling is relatively low (i.e., in the μg/mL range) due to the optical pathlength afforded by the small internal diameter of the capillaries. Relatively high analyte concentrations are thus required for UV detection, which is often unsuitable for numerous applications. Consequently, the major evolutions in recent CE-chiral methodologies consist of improving the detection limits, and, in particular, extending the detection range of analytes.
