ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION When discussing the different influences that our environment and its toxins have on the nose and its function, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the nasal cavity. This chapter is designed to provide such an understanding of the structure and function of both the nasal cavity and the paranasal sinuses, with the aim of facilitating the appreciation of impacts of different environmental influences discussed in subsequent chapters of this textbook.
