Environmental compliance studies should examine all of the possible biological entities in all of the possible locations: air, land, and water. These locations, in turn, may be subdivided into factors such as deserts, tundras, wetlands, coastal areas, fresh and salt water, etc. (Bregman and Mackenthun, 1992).
