When searching for government agencies with environmental programs, remember that the word
environment
does not necessarily appear in their titles, particularly in certain state and local governments. Some lodge environment programs within other departments or agencies, depending on the dominant industries within their jurisdiction. Thus, one may find environmental functions within agencies concerned with agriculture, conservation, forestry, parks, planning, public health, natural resources, mines, public works, or sanitation.
