Normally in all living organisms, cells grow and die with newly grown cells replacing dying cells. Sometimes this process can go wrong where new cells are being formed but old cells are not dying. This uncontrolled cell growth produces a mass which can be either benign or malignant. Cells in malignant tumors can invade nearby tissue and can eventually spread all over the body (metastasis). Treatment of cancer may include chemotherapy, radiation or surgery or a combination of any of these options.
