ABSTRACT

Then, how does one design a Web site with high content usability? Some designers prepare the content based on their intuition. Some others think that the more information they put on their Web sites, the better for the users of their sites. Neither approach is correct because they leave the end users of their products out of the design process and ignore the variability in their information needs, which vary with their ages, genders, education, occupations, culture backgrounds, and such. One effective solution for high content usability is user-centered design, which can be defined as a design philosophy and a process focusing on the needs and wants of end users at each stage of the development process. Under this design approach, designers are required to prepare Web site content from the perspective of end users and based on their understanding of the audience of their sites.
