ABSTRACT
One of the uses of symmetries in particle physics is to classify the possible types of particles. Intuitively we conceive of a particle as a tiny, possibly indivisible bit of matter. However, we know from quantum mechanics that it is described by a wavefunction, and is in a certain sense delocalized over a region of space at any given instant.
