ABSTRACT

I. Iatrogenic Pleural Effusions In some cases, diagnostic or therapeutic interventional techniques or even physicians themselves are responsible for the accumulation of pleural fluid. Several causes of iatrogenic pleural effusions are listed in Table 1. In this chapter, pleural effusions due to central venous catheter or nasogastric tube misplacement, translumbar aortography, or rupture of mammary prosthesis are discussed. Other causes are discussed in other chapters of this book.
