ABSTRACT

Luminescence behaviour of Alkaline earth sulphides had mainly been done on polycrystalline powder materials. Calcium sulphide has been the most explored host among alkaline earth chalcogenides. The development of a high efficiency electroluminescence (EL) phosphor is a combination of many variables at the optimized level. Proper interaction among the host lattice and the rare earth, or transition metal ion dopant. The effect of external light irradiation on EL properties of alkaline earth sulphides doped with rare earths have been the subject matter of studies to understand the mechanism of generation of dynamic space charge. Monochrome thin-film EL displays are available basically in orange-yellow emission colour.
