ABSTRACT

The modeling of unobserved heterogeneity may be useful when heterogeneity of treatment effect is present, but it cannot obviously unmask the possible reasons for heterogeneity between study results. In particular, understanding the reasons for some heterogeneity is more important than the evidence for its existence.
