Getting beyond regression models

This chapter exemplifies how to go beyond the limitations imposed by Normal linear models (see Chapter 6); the Normal distribution cannot handle binary or count data, for instance. The trick is to use so-called link functions to transform a linear combination of the explanatory covariates into the location parameter of the appropriate response distribution.
