ABSTRACT

Despite renements in suturing and stapling techniques for tissue reattachment and wound closure, surgeons continue to struggle with difcult tissue repairs. Reliable closure of tissues and organs remains one of the great unsolved challenges of clinical medicine and physicians are constantly seeking better methods for achieving efcient and secure closure of both surgical and traumatic wounds. There is great demand for tissue adhesives to replace or augment sutures and staples for wound repair, as well as adhesive materials for hemorrhage control.
