ABSTRACT
Conclusion Statement 1. Integrating socioeconomic values with the estimation of potential ecological risks is likely to improve environmental decision making. Socioeconomic values will be dependent on a host of factors, not the least of which will be the diversity in human wants and needs, but this should not deter their inclusion in the decisional process. There is a role for valuation in the decisional process whether decisions are being made in the public or private sectors.
