ABSTRACT

The sample size calculations described so far in this book have concentrated on when we wish to determine whether one treatment is superior to another treatment. As discussed in Chapter 1, however, we do not always wish to show that two treatments are different. An objective of a trial can be to show that they are clinically the same.
