ABSTRACT

After having seen in this book various semiconductor devices based on the Hall effect (in a broader sense, we include here also the magnetoresistance effect), we may ask ourselves: what is the relative importance of each of these devices? How do these devices compare with other galvanomagnetic sensors, such as thin-film ferromagnetic magnetoresistors (which we did not treat in this book)? And how might this picture look in the years to come [1]? In this concluding little chapter of the book, I would like to share with you, the curious reader, my personal opinion on these issues.
