ABSTRACT

Semiconductor lasers are now considered to be the optimum optical sources for a wide range of optical fibre communication links and ultrafast optical data processing systems. Diode lasers capable of being modulated at very high bit rates are key requirements for high-speed optical communication links. The major feature of the laser is its ability to generate modulated optical signals as a result of the direct injection of electrical currents. Hence the dynamic response and modulation behaviour of lasers are of great importance for many applications and have been extensively studied by many researchers.
