ABSTRACT
Flatness and dimensional criteria are included in the current quality standards for many sheet and plate products, e.g. steel plates, aluminium plates, door leaves, insulating products for building applications and floor coverings. It is evident that there are many reasons why one would want to know and control the shapes and dimensions of such products. The consumers of steel plate and strip products are increasingly requiring tighter dimensional tolerances and better profiling and shaping.
