Advances.in.cognitive.neuroscience.are.leading.to.a.clearer.understanding. of.the.attention.networks.of.the.human.brain..Positron.emission.tomography. (PET).and.functional.magnetic.resonance.imaging.(fMRI).have.enabled.us. to.identify.brain.mechanisms.underlying.attention.processes..The.progress. in.this.domain.shows.attention.processes.in.an.entirely.different.perspective. as.compared.to.classical.attention.concepts..The.attention.system.governs.all. cognitive.processes,.from.perception.to.decision.and.execution..The.system. is.based.on.neural.networks.with.different.locations.for.the.orienting,.executive,.and.vigilance.subsystems..Disturbance.occurring.in.the.interaction.of. attention.subsystems.is.one.of.the.main.sources.of.errors.appearing.in.the. work.process;.the.demands.of.dynamic.changes.in.circumstances.exceed.the. regulating.capabilities.of.attention..In.some.critical.situations,.the.system.is. not.able.to.meet.the.borderline.demands..To.understand.the.way.in.which. disturbances. occur. in. the. coordination. of. attention. subsystems,. interconnections.between. them.are.analyzed..The.efficiency.of.attention.networks.
