ABSTRACT

The majority of prior work on fugitive dust emissions in the U.S. has been related to wind erosion, paved and unpaved roads, agricultural practices, and source sampling of point or area sources such as construction and mining. Throughout this past work, the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for suspended particles has been based primarily on particle size:

1971 to 1987 — Total suspended particulate (TSP)

1987 to current — PM10 or particulate matter less than or equal to 10 μm in aerodynamic diameter
