ABSTRACT
In the previous chapter the process of slice selection was described. Slice selection means that it is known from what slice of tissue a magnetic resonance (MR) signal is originating. The frequency encoding procedure, which is the subject of this chapter, allows the signal to be further localized to columns within the slice. The principles of frequency encoding are described, and the interactive Frequency Encoding Demonstrator program is used to illustrate these principles using graphics.
