ABSTRACT
Cancer is a class of disorders characterized by abnormal growth of cells that proliferate in an uncontrolled way. Cancer cells are able to spread in the body by two processes: invasion and metastasis. Invasion involves direct growth of cancer into adjacent tissue. Metastasis is a process where cancer cells are transported through the bloodstream or lymphatic system, resulting in implantation into distant sites (organs, tissues).
