ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the development of an integrated diagnostic assay to identify respiratory viruses. From the analysis of the problem to the design of the assay and its validation, this chapter aims to guide the reader through all the design steps of a molecular diagnostic test involving primer design, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), primer extension, and microarray hybridization. The system chosen for the integration of this assay is the AutoGenomics In niti System.
