ABSTRACT
The scientific discipline of ergonomics has been strongly influenced by its historical and geographical development. Interest in working conditions and occupational health had already started in the eighteenth century and can be considered as the premise of ergonomics. The onset of such human preoccupations is strongly related to industrial development. Thus, countries that were part of the industrial revolution were first to consider the human as a component of the production system.
