ABSTRACT
I. Introduction Bronchiectasis is defined as permanent dilatation of the bronchi and is a radiologic or pathologic diagnosis. Cylindrical or tubular bronchiectasis is characterized by dilated airways alone, varicose bronchiectasis by focal narrowed areas along dilated airways, and cystic bronchiectasis by progressive dilatation of the airways that end in cysts or saccules.
