ABSTRACT
Therefore, even without any deep scientific analysis, it is clear that somehow information is transmitted from parent to child. Now, if we want to understand this process properly, we need to know not only about how it works but also about what information actually is and how it can be measured. Indeed, we cannot really talk about information transmission until we have gained a better understanding of information itself. We will therefore start this chapter by investigating the notion of information.
