ABSTRACT

Aisles and passageways must be free from debris and kept clear for travel. Where mechanical material-handling equipment is used, sufficient safe clearance must be allowed for aisles, at loading docks, through doorways, and wherever turns or passage must be made. Aisles and passageways used by mechanical equipment are to be kept clear and in good repair with no obstructions across or in aisles that could create hazards. All permanent aisles and passageways should be appropriately marked. Areas where workers walk should be covered and guardrails are to be provided to protect workers from the hazards of open pits, tanks, vats, ditches, etc.

The supplying of compressed air is accomplished by a compressor. Great care must be taken to ensure that such types of equipment operate in a safe manner. Safety devices for a compressed-air system should be checked frequently. Compressors should be equipped with pressure relief valves and pressure gauges.
