ABSTRACT

Biomechanics is mechanics, the science that deals with forces and their effects, applied to biological systems. Traditionally, this has meant the human body at a relatively macro level. However, there need not be any such limitations, since any life form can be studied at any level. More recently, perhaps because of the interest in the development of new drugs and measuring their effects on the body, biomechanical studies have progressed down to the level of a single cell. This book, though, will focus exclusively on the human body and the upper limbs.
