ABSTRACT

The musculoskeletal system is a complex system of muscles, bones, and soft connective tissue to produce movement in the human body. The movements are three dimensional, centered around joints but are typically de£ned in two dimensions along the three major planes (see Figure 2.1): sagittal, observing the body from the side, transverse, observing the body from directly above the head, and frontal, observing the body from the front, i.e., face to face. These movements are de£ned with the human body in a standard anatomical position, as shown in Figure 2.1, with palms facing forward.
