ABSTRACT
The first part of this chapter presents some traditional radiation biology, describes the various mechanisms of radiation-induced cell death, and discusses the analysis of cell-survival curves. The second part is concerned with events that may occur after very low doses of radiation. Some of these latter findings have led to a shift in the perception of radiobiological phenomena from the traditional deterministic ‘‘hit-effect’’ model to a dynamic model of interactive cellular relationships.
