ABSTRACT

The automotive market share of many leading manufacturers has undergone major changes because of the formation of world wide alliances, mergers and acquisitions, targeting the enhancement of environment related technology, developing investments and commercialization and expanding market share. Automotive technologies are greatly influenced by the economic situation. The development of vehicles has been changing due to the incorporation of production engineering specifications from the planning phase, and the designing of products utilizing computer aided engineering technology. Three-dimensional models enable engineers to design products in consideration of production conditions, to design and make moulds according to an optimized casting plan, and to build prototypes and evaluate them with actual vehicles. Environmental control, recycling, safety, comfort and communication systems are the key needs for the vehicles of the future, and they incorporate high performance, light weight and low cost.
