ABSTRACT

Hazardous organic wastes are generated widely in domestic, municipal, agricultural, industrial, and military activities (Chaudhry and Chapalamadugu, 1991). From agricultural, home, and industrial usage, pesticides and other petroleum wastes can enter into crop residues, municipal sludges, farm manures, and soils (Dao and Unger, 1995). Insect, disease, and weed control in farming may lead to accumulation of pesticides in soils, in which decomposition of these materials may occur slowly (Gevao et al., 2000; Barker and Bryson, 2000).
