Creating Objects

Region-merging approaches can be divided into two approaches: (1) region growing and (2) region split and merging. Region-growing technique involves pixel aggregation and starts with a set of seed points. From these seed pixels, the regions are grown by merging neighboring pixels that have similar properties. On the other hand, the region-splitting and -merging approach includes subdividing an image initially into a set of arbitrary, disjointed regions and then merging and/or splitting the regions based on the similarity rules for object creation.
