Queueing theory.refers.to.the.analysis.of.a.class.of.stochastic.processes.that. are.used.to.model.waiting.lines,.including.the.arrival.of.customers.to.servers,. the. waiting. of. customers. for. servers,. the. processing. of. customers. by. servers,.and.the.departure.of.customers.. In.addition. to.queues.containing. human.customers,. the.models.presented. in. this.chapter.can.be.applied. to. queues.of.manufactured.parts.in.an.assembly.process,.calls.in.a.telephone. network,.etc.
