ABSTRACT

The production unit depends on the analytical laboratory. It deserves the best precision and accuracy possible. It is not possible to judge the quality of the product or to determine the effectiveness of the process without data from the analytical laboratory. With so much riding on the data, it is important for the laboratory to view the production unit as a customer and to deliver the best possible service to this customer. The laboratory processes are no different from any other processes. The laboratory receives raw materials (samples, chemicals), processes the raw materials (sample preparation and analysis), and delivers the final product for use (reports the data). The production unit is expected to produce the highest quality product possible. Should not the laboratory be expected to do the same?
