PATIENT SATISFACTION Because of its relative safety, predictability, and quick recovery (1-8), excimer laser refractive surgery, specifically laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), has become widely accepted worldwide as a safe and effective method to treat refractive error. This is evidenced by the increasing popularity of the procedure among successful contact lens wearers (9).
