ABSTRACT

This chapter describes modified moment problem with respect to the novel application of quantum mechanical methods to signal processing across a range of interdisciplinary research fields. The analysis, which deals with the nearest neighbour approximation, shows that the three-term recursive construction of the Lanczos orthonormal basis set necessitates knowledge of the coupling constants. All the classical polynomials satisfy the same type of contiguous recursions and have their constants determined in advance. The polynomial pair, as well as the accompanying coupling parameters, are also created recursively via the Lanczos algorithms.
