ABSTRACT

The conditions within the NVA in the fall of 1933 were characteristic of what followed. Ku¨hnhold had brought forth with his acoustic group a meritorious accomplishment in conducting the research and development that led to a working horizontal-sound locating system. He led a group of scientists, engineers and technicians of about his age, and who respected him as their chief. The extensive physical knowledge from which he drew his ideas made working with him a pleasure. He knew how to motivate and inspire his co-workers, even when the steadfastness with which he carried others along with him in pursuing solutions could be unpleasant.
