ABSTRACT

One could say that this book is the culmination of two years work, but I rather see it as the “voice” of the many people around the globe who have striven in some small way to better the working life (and thereby the overall quality of life) for billions of working people in all corners of the world over the last 50 years or more. They are the unsung heroes of ergonomics! This fi nal chapter draws on this good work to give a synopsis of the situation in industrially developing countries (IDCs) in general, with the hope of directing the energy of more ergonomists toward assisting developing nations to become more self-sustaining and able to contribute on a more equal basis to the global market, thereby ensuring universal sustainability.
