ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Jet propulsion fuels (kerosene-based fuel mixtures) are standard fuels for commercial aviation as well as for military aircrafts and vehicles. These fuels have been recognized as a major source of chemical exposure for military personnel of the NATO nations (1-4). Exposures to jet fuel can occur during fueling, general maintenance and operation of aircraft and military vehicles, cleaning and degreasing of parts with the fuel, transportation and storage of the fuel, fueling of military tent heaters, as well as during accidental spills and removal.
