ABSTRACT

Cormac O´ Ceallaigh was born on 29 July 1912, the first child of the eminent Dublin obstetrician and early Irish historian, Se´amas O´ Ceallaigh, and his wife Maire Cecilia. He studied at University College Dublin and at the Universities of Paris and Cambridge. He was the Senior Professor in the Cosmic Ray Section of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies for more than 30 years, and made significant contributions to experimental particle physics. He died in Dublin on 10 October 1996.
