INTRODUCTION Noninvasive imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis and management of heart failure. It is critical in determining the etiology of heart failure and is useful in assessing response to treatment and in monitoring progression of disease. The advent of new technology has brought about many novel techniques in the assessment of cardiac structure as well as mechanical and physiologic function. With the increasing armamentarium of imaging tools available, it is important for the clinician to discern which modality to choose in a given clinical scenario.
