Connection Migration in Mobile Agents
In multiagent systems, agents often need to communicate with each other repeatedly during their life cycles. In such a situation, persistent connection allows a pair of agents to keep exchanging information on an established channel without frequent disconnection and reconnection. Persistent connection provides an alternative communication protocol to the message-oriented mailbox scheme. Connection persistence for mobile agents poses a challenge. This chapter presents a reliable connection migration mechanism that supports concurrent migration of both endpoints of a connection and guarantees exactly once delivery for all transmitted data. In addition, a mobile code access control model is integrated to ensure secure connection migration.
