In this appendix, which is primarily meant for the uninitiated reader, we derive the Fresnel coefficients for the reflected and refracted radiation across an interface between two isotropic media with dielectric permittivities ε1 and ε2 and magnetic permeabilities μ1 and μ2. Consider Fig. A.1 for the geometry involved (the case of P-polarization is considered there).
