ABSTRACT
After the laser light has been absorbed, the energy transport and the ablation processes set off the next step in the inertial confinement fusion (ICF) process — the hydrodynamical compression phase. The parameter most critical for the entire success of ICF ignition is the implosion velocity achieved in this step.
