ABSTRACT
This chapter is intended to offer a brief contrast of western state water systems. As such, the information here is greatly abbreviated. For further information the reader should consult the appropriate Web sites listed near the end of this book for the various state water agencies and codes. This chapter covers most of the major fees for water rights and some basic procedures. Applications and other fees are available through state water agencies on their Web pages. Most of these Web pages provide further information on water rights in the state. Some even offer links to their relevant rules and water codes.‡ Since not all fees and procedures are listed here, the reader should consult the appropriate Web pages for further instructions.
