ABSTRACT
Bandel and Hemleben (1987) made a good case that masses of minute Early Jurassic gastropods from the Posidonienschiefer of southern Germany are actually the remains of planktonic heteropods little different from modern representatives of the same group. This is still more evidence of the relatively modern nature of the marine biota beginning with the Jurassic.
