ABSTRACT
The Information Retrieval (IR) (Manning et al., 2008) domain can be viewed, to a certain extent, as a successful applied domain of NLP. The speed and scale ofWeb take-up around the world have beenmade possible by freely available and effective search engines. These tools are used by around 85% of Web surfers when looking for some specific information (Wolfram et al., 2001).
